Kamlapati station goes hi-tech as smart gadgets make biz easy in Bhopal – Times of India

BHOPAL: In an initiative to keep illegal vendors away from entering the premises, the Rani Kamlapati station has launched QR code payment facility which is displayed on the teacups. Tea vendors have also turned high tech as they are equipped with collar cameras and walky-talky in their hands.
Project manager, Bansal Pathways, Abu Asif said that the objective behind launching high tea vendors is to provide better services to the passengers. “There has been a long demand from the passengers that they do not get hygienic tea from the vendors and on several occasions, they were overcharged. By putting QR code on the teacup itself will mitigate such issues forever,” said Asif.
About the walky-talky, he said, “It will help in connecting the vendors with other hawkers roaming at the station. This will help them in coordinating with each other at the time of services. This will make a big difference as they do not need to shout at each other for any kind of coordination among them.”
Vendors are also provided collar cameras. “This will help in recording the conversation between the passenger and the vendor. It will help in understanding what kind of demands are placed by the passengers so that the services could be improved in the future,” added Asif.
As a pilot project 4 such tea vendors have been deployed at the station. “We will increase the number of vendors as per the need and its viability at the station. We want to have more such vendors as the services are meant for the passengers. However, it all depends on the passengers. We will deploy if they demand them,” said Asif. Rani Kamlapati railway station (erstwhile Habibganj station) is being developed on the public-private partnership (PPP) model in collaboration with the Bansal Group. The project is being executed at an approximate cost of Rs 100 crore. Besides, Rs 350 crore would be spent on commercial development in and around the station which are underway.
